Godfred Dame to appeal High Court order directing AG to amend former NAFCO CEO’s charges

Lead counsel for the first accused person in the ongoing Buffer Stock criminal trial, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has indicated his intention to appeal the High Court’s decision ordering the Attorney-General to amend two counts on the charge sheet.

The court directed the prosecution to revise Counts 9 and 14, which relate to allegations of defrauding by false pretences, after finding that the charges lacked adequate particulars to properly inform the accused persons of the specific allegations against them.

Justice Francis Achibonga, who presided over the case, ruled that the charges in their current form did not contain sufficient details to meet the requirements of a fair trial.

The decision means the Attorney-General is required to provide additional particulars on the two counts before proceedings can continue.

However, speaking after the ruling, Mr Dame disagreed with the court’s position and announced that he would challenge the decision at the Court of Appeal.

The case involves Hanan Abdul-Wahab and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, who are facing 20 charges, including stealing and causing financial loss to the State.

The trial has been adjourned to July 29, 2026.
