The Ghana Police Service has arrested Prince Aboagye, a 38-year-old branch organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Agona West in the Central Region, for allegedly making offensive and defamatory comments about former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on social media.

The arrest followed the circulation of a video in which Mr Aboagye is reported to have levelled serious allegations against Dr Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flagbearer for the election 2028.

In the clip, the suspect is alleged to have accused Dr Bawumia of murder, theft and having extramarital relations with married women.

The Police have confirmed that Mr Aboagye was in custody and investigations into the matter ongoing.

Alex Asiedu, the Agona West Constituency Chairman, confirmed the arrest and said Aboagye had been invited by the CID in Accra over the alleged misconduct.
