
Bekwai Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region has sentenced a 37-year-old security man, Mohammed Abubakari alias Wofa Abu, to 15 years imprisonment for defiling an 8-year-old girl at Anyinam near Ahenema Kokoben.
The court found the accused guilty after he admitted the offence in his caution statement during investigations.
According to the prosecution, on June 27, 2026, the accused lured the victim and her friend into his security post under the pretext of sending them on an errand.
He is said to have sexually assaulted the 8-year-old in a kitchen after sending the friend to wait elsewhere.
The matter came to light when the victim narrated the incident to friends and it got to the complainant, who is the victim's mother.
A report was made to police on July 11, 2026.
The victim was issued a medical form and treated at the Suntreso Government Hospital. A medical report confirmed that the hymen of the victim had been ruptured.
The presiding judge, His Honor Issac Appiatu therefore sentenced Mohammed Abubakari to 15 years in prison with hard labour.
