The Leader of the All People's Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, Ya-Na Abukari II.
In a statement, Dr. Ayariga extended his condolences to the Dagbon Royal Family, the chiefs and people of the Dagbon Kingdom, as well as Ghanaians mourning the loss of the revered traditional ruler.
“The late Yaa Naa was not only a revered traditional ruler but also a father figure to my family and me,” Dr. Ayariga stated. “His wisdom, humility, and unwavering dedication to peace, unity, and the development of Dagbon earned him the admiration and respect of people from all walks of life.”
He described the Ya-Na's passing as a significant loss to both the Dagbon Kingdom and the nation.
“The passing of the Yaa Naa is a tremendous loss not only to the Dagbon Kingdom but also to the nation as a whole,” he said.
Dr. Ayariga said his thoughts and prayers remain with the Royal Family, elders and the people of Dagbon during this difficult period, praying that Allah grants them strength, comfort and patience as they mourn.
He also offered prayers for the late Ya-Na, asking Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.
“We pray that Allah forgives the shortcomings of the late Yaa Naa, grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and allows his remarkable legacy of leadership, peace, and service to continue inspiring future generations. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
