MTN Ghana has reinforced its support for small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) by awarding GHS150,000 in grants to five outstanding businesses during its World MSME Day Business Pitch competition.

The pitch event, organised under MTN Business’ year‑long SME Accelerate Programme, brought together 10 promising Ghanaian enterprises to showcase innovative ideas capable of creating jobs, driving growth and strengthening the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The finalists were 10‑10 Foodie, Awhenepa Cookery, Edible Treats, House of Lush, Manehlla Foods, Tahir Field Recycling, Tropical Snacks, Bubune Africa Limited, Dyluri Beauty, and Lebenam Skin.

After a competitive pitching session, Tahir Field Recycling, Edible Treats, Dyluri Beauty, Manehlla Foods and Tropical Snacks emerged as the top five, each receiving GHS30,000, totalling GHS150,000 in grants. The winners also received MTN business solutions and digital support packages to accelerate their growth.

Although Tahir Field Recycling and Edible Treats scored highest, MTN awarded all five top finalists equally — a move the company says reflects its commitment to empowering a wider pool of SMEs with the resources needed to scale.

The remaining finalists — 10‑10 Foodie, Awhenepa Cookery, House of Lush, Bubune Africa Limited and Lebenam Skin — received GHS2,000 each, plus MTN products and digital tools including the Y’ello Biz Router, MiFi devices, Business Eye solutions and other support systems to aid their digital transformation.

Senior Manager for SME Sales, Partnership and Business Broadband at MTN Ghana, Mohamed Abubakar Siddiq, said the Business Pitch is part of MTN’s broader mission to recognise and support SMEs for their critical role in Ghana’s economy.

“SMEs play a pivotal role in creating jobs and driving economic growth. Through initiatives such as the Business Pitch and the SME Accelerate Programme, we are committed to empowering entrepreneurs with funding, digital tools and business education to help them thrive.”

He added that the five winners will also benefit from MTN’s Mini MBA Programme, a 13‑week intensive training delivered in partnership with Nova Business School, aimed at equipping entrepreneurs with practical management skills and preparing them for global competition.

Founder and CEO of Tahir Field Recycling, Tahir Pumar, expressed appreciation for the support, describing the grant as a major motivation.

“This recognition shows that hard work and consistency attract support. The funding will help us increase production, grow our business and create more employment opportunities for young people.”

The MTN World MSME Day Business Pitch forms part of MTN Ghana’s ongoing efforts to champion entrepreneurship and empower SMEs through funding, digital solutions, mentorship and capacity‑building — recognising the sector’s central role in driving inclusive growth and job creation.
