The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed as false a viral social media statement alleging that floodwaters washed away some West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers and that affected candidates would be required to resit the examinations.
The statement, which has been widely circulated on social media, claimed that heavy rainfall on June 29 destroyed examination papers, leaving some unavailable for the ongoing WASSCE.
It further alleged that the Ghana Education Service was considering a rescheduled examination for affected candidates and would soon release a revised timetable.
GES has, however, described the statement as fake and urged the public to disregard it.
The Service advised students, parents and all stakeholders to rely only on its official communication channels for authentic information regarding the ongoing examinations.
GES also urged the public to verify information before sharing it in order to prevent the spread of misinformation.
