The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has warned that a rainstorm developing over Benin is moving towards Ghana and is expected to bring widespread cloud cover, rain and thunderstorms across several parts of the country today.
In its latest weather advisory this afternoon, the Agency said the advancing weather system is likely to affect southern Ghana first before extending to other parts of the country later in the day.
According to GMet, coastal communities and nearby inland areas should expect rain accompanied by thunderstorms from this afternoon into the evening.
The Agency also forecast rain or thunderstorms for the Middle Belt, Transition Zone and the northern parts of the country later this afternoon, with the conditions expected to persist into the night.
GMet further cautioned that sea conditions would become rough, urging fishermen, boat operators and other users of the sea to exercise extreme caution.
The advisory comes as parts of southern Ghana continue to recover from recent heavy rains that caused flooding in several communities, with authorities urging residents to remain alert and monitor official weather updates.
The Agency has advised the public to take the necessary precautions, particularly in flood prone areas, and to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall and thunderstorms.
