A leading contender for the National Organizer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Agyenim Boateng, has launched a sharp critique of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration under President John Dramani Mahama, describing it as a failed experiment that has left many Ghanaians disappointed.

In an exclusive interview with The Correspondent, the former Ashanti Regional NPP Organizer argued that the vision and promises that persuaded Ghanaians to vote for the NDC in the 2024 general elections have failed to translate into improved living conditions.

According to him, the government's performance so far has exposed weaknesses in governance and economic management, resulting in growing hardship for ordinary citizens.

NDC Accused of Failing to Deliver
Mr. Boateng likened the country's current political situation to a dramatic movie plot, claiming that the NDC secured power through promises that have not been fulfilled.

“Mahama and the NDC used sweet words to deceive Ghanaians into handing them power,” he said. “Barely months into their mandate, the weight of their failed campaign promises is crushing the very people they claimed to serve. They promised paradise but are now delivering a collapse in living standards.”

He maintained that the administration has underperformed in key areas, including economic management, policy implementation, and the execution of sustainable development projects.

Bawumia Positioned as Alternative
Mr. Boateng expressed confidence in former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as a leader capable of reversing what he sees as the country's current decline.

“Dr. Bawumia is coming in like a hungry tiger to unseat the NDC and restore order,” he stated.

He argued that Dr. Bawumia understands the challenges confronting the country and is prepared to provide the leadership needed to restore economic stability and national progress.

Praise for NPP Legacy Projects
The NPP National Organizer aspirant contrasted the record of previous NPP administrations with that of the current government, commending former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for prioritising long-term infrastructure development.

According to him, projects undertaken under their leadership were designed to create lasting benefits for future generations.

“Under Kufuor and Akufo-Addo, infrastructure was built to last. Today, we see roads being patched with a handful of coal tar from gallons, a practice that accelerates the destruction of our road network,” he said.

He questioned how Ghana could attract significant foreign investment while infrastructure challenges persist.

Concerns Over Development Policies
Mr. Boateng also criticised the government's flagship 24 Hour Economy policy, arguing that its implementation lacks clarity and direction.

He questioned the emphasis on round-the-clock economic activity while, in his view, industrial productivity remains low.

The former regional organiser further accused the Mahama administration of slowing progress on the Agenda 111 hospital project initiated under the previous NPP government.

“A country can only develop when its citizens are healthy. By halting such vital health infrastructure, the NDC is actively disadvantaging the sector and the wellbeing of Ghanaians,” he said.

Calls for Support for the NPP
Concluding the interview, Mr. Boateng said he believes Ghanaians are beginning to reassess the promises made by the NDC ahead of the 2024 elections.

He urged voters to support the NPP, arguing that the party offers the most credible path toward economic recovery and national development.

“Ghanaians must rally behind the NPP’s vision, which remains the only viable path to meaningful economic recovery and national development,” he stated.
