
The Management of the Fiapre Notre Dame Senior High School in the Sunyani West Municipality has confirmed the sudden demise of Ms Jecenta Kyerewaa Appiah, a final-year student of the school.
According to a joint statement issued by the management and the Parent Teacher Association of the School, Appiah, a science student, died on Wednesday June 17, 2026 after writing her last paper in the just-ended West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The statement, copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani said the death occurred at the Sunyani Seventh Day Adventist Hospital (SDA) where she was on admission.
Preliminary investigations showed that Appiah complained of uneasiness after leaving the examination hall, rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
The statement added that the management and PTA executives of the school had since visited and commiserated with the bereaved families, adding that the body of the deceased had been deposited at the hospital's mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
It added the burial and final funeral rites of the deceased would be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Seikwa-Bepoase in the Tain District of the Bono region, her hometown.
