Dear Ken: Let Not Your Anger Lead You to a Path of Self-destruction

Everyone -- rich or poor, weak or strong, wise or foolish, has the freewill to decide the path to thread at any given time. However, none of us can determine the consequences of our actions and decisions.

It is against this backdrop that I deem it prudent as a sincere loyalist of Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, to appeal to him to pause and reflect on the decision he has recently hinted on taking.

The maverick politician went tight-lipped after the presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), leaving his party members confused and concerned. While in his den of silence which is unusual of him, some of his party loyalists announced the formation of a political movement called The Base in his name.

The NPP members waited for Mr. Agyapong's reaction to the activities of The Base but he left them more confused by remaining in his den of silence. This became more concerning because the roaring lion had suddenly turned into a cunning fox.

At this point, the Flag bearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, decided to reach out to him. Ounce gain, the members of the NPP anxiously waited for the outcome of Ken's meeting with their flag bearer. Rumours of the supposed private and secret meeting spread like bush fire as journalists and insiders guessed its outcome. Disappointment again truck everyone: nothing tangible came out of it.

Life must go on! So the NPP continued with its national task of holding the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) accountable. They moved from one cocoa growing district to another, empathizing and solidarising with aggrieved cocoa farmers who had suffered hair cut in the producer price of the cash crop.

After this, they shifted their attention to abandoned uncompleted government projects, focusing on health facilities. To this end, they visited the Afari Military Hospital in the Ashanti Region and held a press conference to galvanise the support of the citizens to mount pressure on the government to complete it.

This was working for them as data on the project showed the NPP had almost completed it. They almost succeeded in presenting the current NDC government as insensitive to the plight of the citizens because the no bed syndrome had hit the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). Therefore, the citizens could not fathom why a five hundred bed hospital would be abandoned by the government at such a crucial time just because of 500,000.00 USD.

To top it up, the NPP flag bearer called on the Christian Council for a stakeholder engagement. This engagement also turned out to be positive for the elephant fraternity as members of the Christian Council showered the NPP leader with praises that seemed like an endorsement from the christian community.

In the wake of all these, Ken sprang up from his den of silence, contradicting the NPP on the Afari Military Hospital project. While the NPP claimed the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government had taken the project to 98% complete, Ken claimed they did nothing for eight years. The position of Ken turned out to be false though.

Ken's utterances on the project degenerated into a verbal war between him and a section of the NPP members. This resulted in Ken threatening the NPP, hinting that by June 2027, he would come out and spill the beans if the party dared him. He also expressed concern that despite the verbal attacks he suffered in the hands of the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye DC, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the party did nothing about it.

As a loyalist of Ken, I deem it prudent to appeal to him to backtrack the path he has chosen because he might be the greatest loser. Without mincing words, the path he has chosen is a path of self-destruction which can erase his hard earned name from the history books of the NPP, a party he has sacrificed so much to build.

It will be in the best interest of Ken to remain a friend of the NPP despite his grievances. Ken has two lives: his businesses and the NPP. He has spent all his life building and surviving on these two entities. For this reason, I will humbly plead with him to opt for amicable resolution of his differences with the current Caesar(s) of his party.

Should Ken choose to identify with The Base or any other political group apart from the NPP or the NDC, he becomes an automatic enemy of the two giant parties. And he should know what this means to his businesses. He should just look at Paa Kwesi Nduom. None of these two parties will protect Ken's businesses to build a third political force against them.

Dear Ken, let not your anger lead you to a path of self-destruction.
