Atwima Nwabiagya MCE deniesobstructingMinorityMPsfromvisitingAfari Military Hospital

Mr. Wisdom Osei Boamah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya, has denied allegations that he deployed individuals to prevent Minority Members of Parliament (MPs) from accessing and touring the Afari Military Hospital.

He also refuted claims that he threatened a security officer at the facility with dismissal over the visit.

In a press statement copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr. Boamah described the allegations as “false, baseless and misleading.”

He urged the public to disregard reports suggesting his involvement in the incident.

According to him, reports circulating in sections of the media alleged that he had sent some individuals to the hospital to obstruct MPs on the Minority Caucus from entering the facility and had also intimidated a security officer.

“I wish to state clearly and unequivocally that these allegations are false, baseless, and misleading,” the statement said.

Mr. Boamah stressed that at no point had he threatened, intimidated or sought the removal of any staff member of the hospital.

He further stated that he had not deployed any person or group to obstruct or prevent the Minority MPs from visiting the facility.

The MCE explained that the Afari Military Hospital was a military installation under the authority and administration of the Ghana Armed Forces and that access to the facility was governed by established military protocols and procedures.

He noted that even in his capacity as Municipal Chief Executive, he was required to obtain the necessary permission from the appropriate military authorities before visiting the hospital.

Mr. Boamah said although the hospital was situated within the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality, the Municipal Assembly did not exercise administrative or operational control over its affairs.

He explained that matters relating to security, management and access to the facility remained solely under the jurisdiction of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The MCE therefore called on the public to refrain from spreading misinformation and to rely on verified information concerning the matter.

“Let us remain committed to truth, responsible communication, and the preservation of public confidence in our institutions,” he stated.

The statement followed public discussions and media reports surrounding the visit by Minority MPs to the Afari Military Hospital and allegations of attempts to restrict their access to the facility.
