Ghana’s economic landscape has been shaped by visionary entrepreneurs, pioneering institutions, resilient brands, and long‑standing companies that have survived decades of political transitions, economic shocks, technological disruptions, and shifting market conditions — all while creating jobs, generating wealth, and contributing to national development.
Yet, despite their immense contributions, Ghana has never had a dedicated national platform to celebrate, preserve, and showcase the legacy of its oldest and most enduring businesses.
That gap is now being filled with the introduction of the Ghana Platinum Excellence Awards, a new national initiative designed to recognise and reward outstanding Ghanaian businesses that have demonstrated longevity, resilience, and excellence.
Speaking to the media ahead of the official launch in July 2026, CEO of Re‑Focus Experience Ghana Limited, Nii Saka Brown, said the awards will identify, document, celebrate, and draw lessons from Ghana’s most enduring institutions.
“The Ghana Platinum Excellence Awards presents a unique opportunity to celebrate Ghana’s corporate heritage, promote a culture of sustainability and long‑term thinking, inspire entrepreneurs to build businesses that endure, encourage strong governance and succession planning, and showcase Ghana’s business success stories,” he said.
He added that the awards also aim to preserve important aspects of Ghana’s economic history and position the country as a leader in celebrating corporate longevity and institutional excellence.
According to him, many businesses fail to survive due to poor management, weak succession planning, and other structural challenges. As a result, promising companies disappear — taking with them valuable lessons, jobs, and economic opportunities. However, others have survived and thrived despite the odds.
“Some organisations have survived for over 40, 50, 75, and even 100 years. These institutions have demonstrated remarkable resilience and offer valuable lessons for today’s entrepreneurs and future business leaders. This platform will reward these individuals and businesses,” he noted.
As part of the awards initiative, a high‑level executive engagement event — the Legacy Business Forum — will be held. The forum will bring together business leaders, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, development partners, academia, and industry experts to discuss strategies for building sustainable, long‑lasting businesses in Ghana.
