Ghana has emerged as the winner of the Junior Division at the 2026 Robofest World Championships held in Michigan, United States.
Team Apex from Mikrobot Academy secured the global title after defeating teams from 19 countries, including the United States, China, Canada, South Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Greece, Hong Kong, and Macau.
The competition was hosted by Lawrence Technological University under the Robofest international robotics platform, which brings together students from across the world to compete in science, technology, engineering, and robotics challenges.
Members of Team Apex included Faiz Sornyiina Abdul-Wahab, Tiana Lilian Naa-Chardey Taylor, Israel Yeboah Awuah, Inaaya Khan, and Aalia Mehreen.
Ghana also recorded another major achievement at the competition after a team from Right to Dream Academy finished second in the Senior Division.
The victory marks Ghana’s first Junior Division world title at Robofest. The country had previously achieved success in the Senior Division through schools such as Prempeh College and Methodist Girls Senior High School.
Robofest is recognised globally as one of the leading robotics competitions for young innovators, with students required to design and program autonomous robots to complete assigned tasks without direct human control.
The latest achievement adds to Ghana’s growing reputation in robotics and STEM education on the international stage.
