We are not selling any of our hotel investments — SSNIT debunks rumors

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has dismissed reports suggesting that it is selling off its hotel investments, describing the claims as false and misleading.

According to the Trust, recent publications and social media discussions misinterpreted advertisements it placed in the Ghanaian Times and Daily Graphic in March 2026 regarding some of its hospitality assets.

SSNIT explained that the advertisements were only meant to invite consulting firms to provide advisory services for Golden Beach Hotels Limited, which manages La Palm Royal Beach Resort, Elmina Beach Resort and Busua Beach Resort.

“Management wishes to state unequivocally that these allegations are false, misleading, and without basis,” the Trust said in a media release issued on Friday, May 22.

The statement clarified that the advertisements were not invitations for the sale of any hotel assets or attempts to attract buyers or investors.

Instead, SSNIT said the consultants are expected to conduct an independent assessment of the company’s operations, recommend turnaround strategies and develop a five-year business plan aimed at improving profitability and long-term sustainability.

“The engagement is therefore a business improvement and strategic planning exercise intended to enhance operational performance and preserve value not a divestment process,” the statement stressed.

SSNIT further indicated that Labadi Beach Hotel remains one of its strongest-performing investments and continues to play a strategic role in its hospitality portfolio.

The Trust noted that it is actively supporting the expansion and growth of the hotel to increase its long-term value and contribution to the pension scheme.

Management also assured contributors and pensioners that all investment decisions are guided by sound financial principles, operational sustainability and the need to protect contributors’ funds.
