The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Prestea Huni Valley Constituency, Mr. Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, has supported 74 tertiary students with a sum of GHS 222,000.00 as part of his effort to ensure that less privileged students have equal access to education.

Each of the students received a sum of GHS 3000 during a special Education Ceremony, held on Tuesday at Bogosu to honour BECE and WASSCE graduates who excelled in their exams.

Drawing from his own experiences, the MP shared how difficult it was for him to pursue his education, saying he will do his best to ensure that no brilliant but needy student drops out of school because of financial constraints.

He disclosed that his educational support programme has already helped many students and will continue to expand in the coming years and encouraged beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make the most out of the opportunity given to them.

He reminded them that education is not just about certificates but gaining the skills needed to improve their own lives and support their communities.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Matthew Ayeh, also used the occasion to commend the MP for his continuous support to the Assembly while highlighting key contributions, including the provision of transformers, street lights, and school buildings, all aimed at improving living conditions and access to education.

The MCE advised the students to use the financial support for its intended purpose and cautioned them that measures will be put in place to ensure accountability because the support is meant to ease their burden and not to be misused.

The Chairman of the occasion, Nana Nteboah Pra II, the Divisional Chief of Himan Prestea, said the Member of Parliament deserves to be applauded for his continuous support to students in the Municipality.

He noted that the initiative has significantly reduced the financial burden of many families and helped improve the standard of living of beneficiaries.
