The Electricity Company of Ghana has announced a series of planned and emergency maintenance works across four regions on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, as engineers work to resolve major network faults that caused widespread outages a day earlier.
According to the company, the coordinated exercises are intended to improve service reliability while addressing urgent technical challenges, including faulty underground cables and damaged high-tension infrastructure. Power interruptions will occur at different times depending on the scope of work in each area.
In the Accra West Region, maintenance is scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Amasaman, Plywood, Bubuashie E.P. Church and nearby communities.
In the Western Region, works will run from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, impacting Achantaman, parts of West Tanokrom and surrounding areas.
The Central Region will also experience outages from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in areas such as Tuba township, Mama Africa, Lamgba and adjoining communities.
Additionally, an emergency maintenance exercise from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm will affect several communities, including Abotareye, Hiawa, Nkakaa, Manso Amenfi, Akyekyere, Bonuama, Suroso, Asankragwa, Mota, Kwesi Bokoro, Aboi Nkwata, Dunkwa, Enhie, M-T-N, Samreboi, Moseaso, Asakra Breman, Odumasi and surrounding areas.
The scheduled interventions follow a series of faults recorded on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. In the Accra East Region, a defective underground high-tension cable at Agbogba disrupted electricity supply to Ashongman Estate, Ashongman Atakora Estate, Ashongman Aggies Spot and nearby areas.
In the Volta Region, a burnt high tension pole at the Agortoe T off left communities such as Hadota, Adzato, Vorvonukope, Sokutime, Aflato, Sodzi and Kpordui without power.
The ECG has apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience caused by both the planned outages and the unexpected disruptions. It assured the public that engineers are working to restore stable supply while stressing that the maintenance works are critical to strengthening the power network in the long term.
