Leading member of the United Party (UP) Hopeson Adorye has acknowledged signs of improvement in the quality and availability of meals in some schools.

Speaking on Joy’s AM Show, monitored by MyNewsGh, the former NPP stalwart indicated that while challenges persist, there are indications that conditions have slightly improved compared to previous periods.

“But this time, I learned there is a little improvement in the feeding,” he said. According to him, reports suggest that students are now receiving better meal options under this new government.

“Most of the time, you will not see students saying they are not going to dining. I learned they’ve been getting some kind of eggs and other things,” he added.

His comments come against the backdrop of a broader funding dispute affecting the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), including delays in the release of funds for perishables. The issue has sparked tensions between the Education Ministry and the GETFund, while CHASS has warned of possible school shutdowns if the situation is not resolved.

“If they release money, you then find the interest of attending dining so that we avoid these kinds of agitations before government will release. It doesn’t sound well when we get to that point,” he noted.
