The Minority caucus has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration of deliberately churning out contradictory reports on jobs created in 2025.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Development and Economy Committee, said some government officials claim the administration created one million jobs during the year, while others report just 300,000.
Speaking on Accra-based Asaase Radio on Tuesday, February 24, the lawmaker urged the government to focus on real solutions rather than what he described as public relations gimmicks.
“They are confused about their numbers. I was on a show with the technical adviser to the finance minister who claimed that they’ve created 1 million jobs in 2025… Then a couple of days ago, I think I heard another senior government official say, 300,000,” Oppong Nkrumah said.
He added that such confusion undermines the credibility of official statistics.
“Even this measure of the job numbers is questionable, let alone the methods that they are thinking about using. I am of the view that the public relations gimmicks and settings need to be torn down so that they pay more attention to the substantive,” he said.
The NDC government came into power promising to tackle unemployment through initiatives including the 24-hour economy.
However, critics, particularly the New Patriotic Party, have argued that the administration has yet to deliver on these pledges, leaving many Ghanaians still seeking stable employment.
The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) recently announced that unemployment among young people aged 15 to 24 years was 34.4% in the third quarter of 2025.
About 1.34 million youths in this age group were not in employment, education, or training (NEET) with youth labour underutilisation remaining high.

Kojo, you are just wasting your time; the NPP will never come back to power. If you were intelligent, your party wouldn't be so useless.
