A 26-year-old man, Wisdom Tetteh Assem, has been fatally stabbed after a confrontation during a Valentine’s Day gathering at Adorkorpe near Ada Kasseh in the Greater Accra Region.
The incident, according to police, occurred at a drinking spot where revellers had gathered to mark the occasion.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a misunderstanding erupted between Assem and a block factory worker identified as Eric Kartel. Kartel allegedly accused the deceased of urinating within the premises, an allegation that reportedly triggered a heated argument.
Investigators say witnesses reported that Kartel seized Assem’s mobile phone during the dispute, further inflaming tensions.
Police say the confrontation later turned violent. Kartel is alleged to have left the scene briefly and returned armed with a pair of scissors, with which he stabbed Assem. The victim was pronounced dead shortly after the attack.
The suspect fled immediately after the incident and remains at large. A known associate of Kartel has been arrested to assist with ongoing investigations.
The Ada Divisional Police Command has recovered the suspected weapon and intensified efforts to track down the fugitive. Authorities are urging members of the public with relevant information to come forward to aid in his arrest.
