The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana has announced plans to embark on a nationwide strike beginning March 9, 2026, over what it describes as persistent delays in the implementation of a unique salary structure and improved conditions of service for its members.

In a statement released after a meeting of its National Executive Council on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the association expressed frustration over what it called government’s continued inaction despite repeated reminders from the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.

CLOGSAG said assurances that the new salary structure would take effect from January 1, 2025, have not materialised, more than a year after the promised commencement date.

According to the association, negotiations over the matter date back to 2019, culminating in the signing of two separate Memoranda of Understanding with government representatives. However, it lamented that neither agreement has been implemented.

The union warned that it would proceed with industrial action if government fails to honour its commitments, stressing that members across the country are prepared to withdraw their services from March 9.

The notice, it said, serves as formal communication to government ahead of the planned strike.

Since 2019 when you negotiated this benefit, it's 2026 NDC you now want to strike ? . Anyway President Mahatma deserves this as most of his appointments are for people with connection to the north. Disappointing President
