The Greater Accra Kusasi Chief, Naba Billia Tiɛwin Faisel Mahama Abugri, has led a delegation to the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, where he reaffirmed commitments to peace, unity, and cultural cooperation between their communities.
Chief Abugri and his entourage visited the Ga Mantse to wish him a Happy New Year and to express gratitude for the warm reception traditionally shown to Kusasi leaders on the Ga land. The visit highlighted ongoing efforts to promote harmony amid chieftaincy and ethnic tensions in parts of northern Ghana.
During the engagement, the Greater Accra Kusasi Chief briefed the Ga Mantse on the outcome of the Otumfuo‑led mediation process, which was previously discussed when the Bawku Naba first introduced the issue to the Ga Mantse. The mediation, convened by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has been a central peace initiative aimed at addressing long‑standing disputes in the Bawku Traditional Area.
In a reaffirmation of cultural ties, Chief Abugri also expressed his overlord’s desire to see the Ga Mantse attend the 2026 Samanpiid Festival, an event that celebrates Kusasi heritage and promotes unity among its people. Gifts, including a cow, were presented as symbols of respect and goodwill, and plans to organize the coronation of the Greater Accra Kusasi Chief were shared with the Ga Mantse.
Responding to the visit, the Ga Mantse thanked Chief Abugri and his delegation, commending the respect shown to him and other traditional leaders. He called on all Kusasi factions in Accra to embrace peace and unity, emphasizing that strong cohesion will help ensure the success of the forthcoming coronation and foster harmony between cultural communities in the capital.
Naba Billia Tiɛwin Faisel Mahama Abugri was officially selected as the Greater Accra Kusasi Chief by the Kusasi community’s selection committee in July 2025, a position that reflects support from elders and traditional leaders within the Greater Accra Region.
