Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has been honoured for his outstanding contribution to the success of the international edition of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market.
In a heartfelt ceremony on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the W. E. B. Du Bois Centre for Pan African Culture in Cantonments,
The award, presented by the Market’s Management Team led by Manager Adnan Mohammed and Deputy Manager Wango Abdul Karimu, formed part of a Gala and Awards Night that closed the 10-day exhibition held from October 17 to 26. Mr. Kusi received a citation recognizing his instrumental role in enhancing the event’s visibility through strategic marketing, effective public relations, and partnership development.
A consummate professional and patriot, Mr. Kusi’s career has been marked by his unwavering dedication to promoting Ghana’s tourism and cultural heritage. An alumnus of Prempeh College, he holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Ghana, an MA in Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (now UNIMAC-GIJ), and an MBA in Marketing from the Methodist University College, Ghana. He also earned a Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
Mr. Kusi has served the Ghana Tourism Authority with distinction for more than a decade. Between 2010 and 2014, he worked as Board Secretary to the GTA’s Board of Directors, later becoming Special Assistant to the late CEO, Mr. Charles Osei Bonsu, from 2014 to 2017. His leadership journey continued as Principal Corporate Affairs Officer in 2019, Deputy Director of Domestic Marketing in early 2024, and subsequently Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs in February 2025.
Known for his Pan-African values and strong sense of national pride, Mr. Kusi has served on several national tourism committees and initiatives, contributing immensely to the growth and transformation of Ghana’s tourism sector.
The international edition of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market, now in its second year, broadened the eight-year-old fair’s reach by welcoming artisans from across West Africa—including Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Niger. Beyond promoting Ghanaian craftsmanship, the event empowered small and medium enterprises to explore regional and international export opportunities.
Over the 10-day period, the fair became a vibrant showcase of African creativity and craftsmanship, featuring fashion, décor, food, fine art, and handmade goods. It served as a platform for cultural exchange, networking, and economic empowerment, drawing participation from locals, tourists, diasporans, and diplomats alike.
Under the theme “From Local Hands to the Global Stage,” attendees immersed themselves in authentic African experiences—enjoying live cultural performances and exploring a colorful array of locally made products.
The event’s enduring message was clear: “Experience the Magic of Africa through art, fashion, food, and more.”
