Ghanaian businessman Dr. Mohammed Musah, popularly known as Mallam Mohammed, has firmly stated that he is the rightful and sole owner of Unity Television and Unity FM 87.7, both based in Kwahu in the Eastern Region.
According to Dr. Musah, the two media outlets operate under the Mohammed Broadcasting Company Limited, and he possesses documentary proof confirming his legal acquisition of the stations.
Addressing journalists in Accra on Friday, August 15, Dr. Musah said he decided to set the record straight following social media reports alleging that the founder of the Unity Group of Companies, Dr. Kwame Kyei, was the owner of Unity Television.
He dismissed these claims as “misleading” and urged the public to disregard them. He further called on media organisations to correct what he described as damaging inaccuracies appearing in online search results.
In addition to Unity Television and Unity FM, Dr. Musah also owns North East Television and Unity Trust Pharmacy Limited.
“If Dr Kwame Kyei had registered Unity Television and Unity FM in his name, I could not have operated them for the public. These stations have been in commercial operation for the past six years,” he said.
Dr. Musah stressed the importance of accurate reporting, warning that false claims of ownership could harm his brand reputation.
Unity Television and Unity FM have both won national and international honours, including the prestigious Glodochmea Award by the International Kingdom University for being the first television and best radio stations in Kwahu.
