
Grave digging is currently underway at Asante-Akyem Obogu for the mass burial of 16 youth members of the Saviour Church who died tragically in a car accident on the Accra–Kumasi Highway last Monday.
The accident occurred while the victims were returning from the Church’s annual activity in the Eastern Region, Obogu, in the Asante Akyem South Municipality on Monday, July 28.
The incident, which occurred around 2:30 p.m., involved a collision between the vehicle carrying the church members and a fuel tanker coming from the opposite direction.
The incident has plunged the Obogu community and members of the Church into a state of shock and mourning, leaving affected families devastated.
16 members of the Saviour Church who perished in the gory accident were aged between 15 and 25 years.
Reports reveal that the entire town has come to a halt, as drivers, store owners, and everyone else in Juaso, Bogu, and Nkwanta have gathered to lament the tragic deaths.
The District Chief Executive for the area, Maame Sarfowaa Appiah, on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Minister, also donated GHS15,000 to support the affected families.
