Happenings of Ablekuma North Should Serve as Basis for Rekindling Party

The brute attack of two of the key personalities of the NPP without the witness of the usual sudden natural defense and retaliation from the party’s base who were onsite during the elections clearly indicates that the morale of the party’s base is still very low and not rekindled despite efforts and measures that have been put in place by the Party leadership to get it rekindled.

This election was certainly a test case to measure the morale of the Party’s base after the sad 2024 election results which was borne out of the same low morale of the Party’s base, and it has again proven that the morale is still low !

However, there is still the Akwatia Constituency by-elections, very similar to the electoral dynamics of the Ablekuma North Constituency, to use as another test case to measure the Morale of the Party’s base. And I have firm belief that decisions to be taken at the 2025 National Delegates Conference would play key role in the measurement of the rejuvenation of the morale and confidence of the base in the Party.

I will as a result plead with the Party’s leadership to ensure that decisions taken at the 2025 National Delegates Conference would strictly reflect the unaltered and unadulterated wishes and recommendations of the party’s base as per the Prof Mike Oquaye’s report. Because per what happened at Ablekuma North during the rerun of 19 polling stations on 11th July, 2025, any attempts to subvert the wishes and concerns of the party’s base to elevate any individual’s interest over the interest of the base of the party would further dip the morale of the base of the Party and in furtherance, dip the fortunes of the Party.

In conclusion, let us be reminded of the sad story of the Rise and Fall of another political party who had had similar dominance, CPP, as guide of precedence; the trend in the progress of the tradition of CPP between 1949 and 2024- a reduction from the most powerful political party in the history of Gold Coast and Ghana to the most irrelevant political party currently.
