National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving: ‘Ghana’s best days are not behind, but ahead’ — Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that the future of the country remains promising and urged citizens to remain steadfast in prayer, unity, and hope.

He emphasised that the country’s past struggles are not a sign of decline but part of the journey to a brighter future.

Speaking at the maiden National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on Tuesday, July 1, at the State House Forecourt, President Mahama said gratitude to God should be central to the country’s national life.

“Our best days are not behind us. Our best days lie ahead of us. We believe that the same God that has brought us this far will carry us forward,” he said.

Referencing the Gospel of Luke, where Jesus healed ten lepers but only one returned to give thanks, the President stressed the power of gratitude and its connection to national renewal.

“Gratitude is powerful. It completes the miracle and opens the door to more. And so today, Almighty God, we are like that one leper who has come back to say, thank you Lord. Thank you Lord, for Your blessings and mercy,” Mr. Mahama noted.

President Mahama also expressed confidence in the country’s potential and praised the country’s youth, creativity, and growing economic resilience as key pillars of national progress.
