Moroccan national Nadia Bennaoui bestowed traditional title in Northern Region

A Moroccan national, Nadia Bennaoui, has been honored with a traditional title in the Northern Region of Ghana in recognition of her outstanding contributions to community development.

She was enskinned as the Zisung Naa of Zaazi, a title that symbolizes her dedication to the progress and well-being of the people of Zaazi, a farming community in the Savelugu Municipality.

According to the Chief of Zaazi, Nadia’s efforts have brought significant transformation to the community, inspiring a shift in mindset toward self-reliance and sustainable development.

Nadia was deployed to Zaachi, a suburb of Savelugu, through the CorpsAfrica/Ghana initiative, where she led and supported several community-driven projects aimed at improving livelihoods, sanitation, education, and agriculture.

With support from CorpsAfrica and the active participation of the community, each household received water hose pipes to support irrigation farming—the community’s main economic activity.

In collaboration with international organizations such as the Relief Crew Foundation, over 50 household toilets were constructed, significantly improving sanitation conditions in the area.

Nadia also mobilized support to enhance education in the community. The local basic school benefited from the donation of reading materials, stationery, and a printing machine, improving both teaching and learning experiences for pupils and teachers.

Her enskinment is a symbol of gratitude from the people of Zaazi and a testament to the impact of cross-cultural collaboration in grassroots development.

Following her coronation, Nadia expressed deep appreciation to the Chief and people of Zaazi for the honor, pledging to continue advocating for community-led development.

She assured the community that the bonds they have formed will not be broken by distance and promised to serve as an ambassador for Zaazi, mobilizing support and sharing their story with the world.

A staff member from CorpsAfrica/Ghana, Kenneth Mwin, who was present at the ceremony, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief and people of Zaazi for warmly embracing Nadia during her service.

He urged the community to take good care of the projects she helped facilitate and ensure their sustainability for future generations.

Kenneth further encouraged the people of Zaazi to continue charting their own path to development by identifying and utilizing their local resources, rather than relying solely on external assistance.

He emphasized that lasting change begins within the community and is most impactful when driven by the people themselves.
