Officials of the Sunyani Technical University (STU) led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ing. Kwadwo Adinkra-Appiah have paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Sunyani, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II.

It was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the university and the Sunyani Traditional Council for the mutual benefit of the two institutions.

While congratulating the Omanhene following his installation, Prof. Ing. Kwadwo Adinkra-Appiah also mentioned inadequate hostel accommodation and lecture halls as some of the major challenges facing STU.

The Vice-Chancellor also raised concerns about serious encroachments on the University’s land; threatening future expansion projects.

Responding, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, tasked Mr. Ransford Antwi, Chairman of the Lands and Projects Committee of the Sunyani Traditional Council, to delve deeper into encroachment issues and report back within one month.

The paramount chief urged the university to expedite work on its new entrance and other ongoing developmental projects.

He emphasized the need for investments in modern sports facilities, competitive inter-school tournaments, and support for student athletes in balancing academics and sports.

Substance abuse
Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II called for joint efforts to combat substance abuse among students and youth, advising authorities to prioritize duty and student development over personal interests.

This engagement marks a significant step towards enhancing collaboration between Sunyani Technical University and the traditional leadership for the betterment of the community.

The STU delegation included Prof. Justice Solomon Korantwi-Barimah, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Thomas Kwarfo, Director of Finance; Stephen Yeboah, Director of Human Resources; Job K. Manu, Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Mrs. Vida Owusu Prempeh, Dean of Students; Rev. Gideon Hackman, Chaplain & Deputy Registrar at the Quality Assurance Office; Frank Owusu, Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor and Safura Mohammed, Deputy Registrar and Faculty Officer of the Faculty of Built Environment & Applied Art.
