The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has launched a scathing attack on National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Officer and Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, over a viral video in which he is seen gifting fresh dollar notes to controversial preacher Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, widely known as Nana Agradaa.
The footage quickly sparked concerns about possible misuse of public funds.
Mr. Sammy Gyamfi has since issued a public apology, stating that his action was a spontaneous gesture to a needy person.
Addressing journalists at the party’s headquarters in Accra, NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, described Gyamfi’s conduct as “a patent display of indiscretion” that could potentially violate multiple financial laws of Ghana.
He further raised legal concerns, citing Section 3 of the Foreign Exchange Act, 2006 (Act 723), which prohibits individuals from engaging in foreign exchange transactions without appropriate authorisation from the Bank of Ghana.
Nana Boakye also invoked the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2014 (Act 874), warning that the act of gifting large sums of foreign currency without traceable justification could potentially fall within the scope of money laundering offences.
He therefore appeals to President John Dramani Mahama to act decisively, citing the recently launched Code of Conduct for government appointees. He argued that failure to reprimand Sammy Gyamfi would render the entire Code meaningless.
“This incident is a litmus test for President Mahama’s commitment to integrity and discipline in public office. The Code of Conduct he recently launched speaks about honesty, professionalism, and impartiality. If no action is taken against Sammy Gyamfi, then the code becomes a hollow declaration,” Nana B said.

We are waiting patiently for the National Service ghost names report to be concluded. Nana B will enjoy how hollow the code is.
