Ghana has returned to democracy in Mahama’s 120 days — Manasseh Azure

Ghanaian investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has given a positive assessment of President John Dramani Mahama’s performance in his first 120 days in office.

According to the journalist and social commentator, the democratic values that appeared to have been lost under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government are now being restored.

In a social media post on Wednesday, May 7, Manasseh wrote: “Mahama’s 120 days in one sentence: Ghana has returned to democracy.”

In a related post sighted by ModernGhana News, Manasseh also praised President Mahama for appointing more young people into key positions and expressed hope that they will live up to expectations.

“From ministers to SOE heads to boards: Mahama’s trust in young people is insane. I hope they don’t disappoint him and us,” he wrote.

So far, the President has delivered on several promises within his first four months, including tax removals and the introduction of pro-poor policies.

Key government initiatives include the National Economic Forum, the National Education Forum, the Adwumawura programme, the One Million Coders initiative, the Ghana Health Trust Fund (Mahama Cares), and the National Sanitary Pad Programme for schoolgirls.

Meanwhile, the Press Secretary to the Vice President, Ama Pratt, has explained that the few outstanding promises are yet to be fulfilled due to constitutional and bureaucratic constraints.
