"Anything that humbles politicians and reminds them of our common humanity must be an act of God."
The soul searching taking place in the NPP is gratifying to behold. Anything that humbles politicians and reminds them of our common humanity must be an act of God.
To see Dr. Bawumia stripped of all his dancing women; the cheering fanfare of multitudes; the brass banders; the enthusiastic host of die-hard supporters --- so only his bare bones are visible to the naked eye --- is a humbling spectacle. "Naked we came, and naked we shall return..."
Clearly, the remedy for dealing with vagabond politicians in this country is not to try to match them in screaming and disputation contest on television. That only fuels their conceit and inflames their mojo.
As long as they can hang on to power, even if it is just by the tip of their claws, arguments and disputations cannot overthrow political pride.
So let's leave them to pontificate and glory in their achievements until the day of accountability, when we shall with one accord, cast them out like demons into the wilderness with one quick vote.
Dr. Bawumia's "thank you" tour, is actually a soul-searching tour. What is there to thank anyone for, except to apologise for the fat lies, the previous stubbornness, the drunkeness of power, maltreatment of the poor, the retrogressive cedi, the infinite corruption, the "adumdum adumdum," the galamsey calamity, the money hoarding, the holy Cathedral loot, the judgement debts, endless scandals, Ofori Atta, and the rest of them!
In spite of all the infamy articulated above (for l have no time to compose a full list) the party still believed they would break the eight! What impudence! What effrontery! What audacity!
Dr. Bawumia's NPP took Ghanaians for first class fools. How the NPP thought they could win the elections by simply branding him Mr. Digitalisation gives me cramps! Who eats digitalisation?
Now that they are in relegation, the great NPP have the opportunity for sober reflection and penance. Hopefully, the party would rally round another ideology to stage a meaningful comeback. But what could that be, after all we saw and experienced under the last elephant? It is probably our worst form of government in modern times!
But Dr. Bawumia must be admonished to stop disparaging Akufo-Addo in his tour and take responsibility for the party's failures. Passing the buck everytime is injurious to his young political ambitions. The driver's mate symbolism he doused upon himself is a major flaw in his career. No Ghanaian wants a driver's mate as president.
And on this soul searching tour, he is blaming everyone but himself. What kind of leader is that?
But let Mahama and Co. take a cue from the NPP's meltdown, for we are patient in adversity, but impatient with the application of our thumb to overthrow an oppressive government.
"Naked we came, naked we shall return."
