President John Dramani Mahama, Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, per advice from the Armed Forces Council, has effective, Monday, March 24, 2025, promoted the incoming Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, and the Chief of Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces.
A statement issued by Mr Felix Kwakye Fosu, the Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in-charge of Government Communications, copied to the Ghana News Agency said the promotions were in advance of the final handing over by the outgoing administration of the Ghana Armed Forces to usher in the new Officers.
The new ones are Major General William Agyapong, Chief of The Defence Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, Chief of Naval Staff, Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong, Chief of Air Staff, and Air Vice Marshal Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai, Chief of Staff.
It said the President wished the new Chiefs of the Ghana Armed Forces-appointed by the President in consultation with the Council of State – a successful tenure.
