The Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, visited the scene of the devastating fire outbreak at Kumasi Adum Blue Light.
Her visit aimed to express condolences to those affected and assess the extent of the damage.
In her address to the media, Dr. Lartey praised the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, for his swift response and commended the security agencies for their efforts in combating the fire. She assured the affected traders, youth, and residents that the government is committed to providing support to help them recover from their losses.
While recognizing that not all goods may be salvaged, she promised that measures would be implemented to assist victims in restarting their businesses. Dr. Lartey encouraged those affected to remain patient and to disregard any misleading information, emphasizing that plans are underway to construct a new market structure to enhance their business operations.
Madam Abigail Elorm Mensah, the Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC, also extended her condolences to the victims of the fire. She affirmed MASLOC's commitment to supporting the government's efforts in helping individuals rebuild their lives. Madam Mensah emphasized that although full recovery may take time, MASLOC will provide financial assistance to ensure that victims can restart their businesses and regain stability.
