President John Dramani Mahama has officially sworn in Patience Baffoe-Bonnie as the Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, marking a significant leadership transition within the country’s security sector.
Her appointment is part of a broader restructuring effort aimed at strengthening key security institutions. The changes also include new leadership at the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
However, the swearing-in ceremonies for Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, the acting Chief Fire Officer of the GNFS, and Samuel Basentale Amadu, the acting Comptroller-General of the GIS, have been postponed.
President Mahama attributed the delay to procedural differences in the appointment processes of the respective services. Their inductions will take place once their service boards are fully constituted and their appointments are formally confirmed.
The restructuring is expected to enhance efficiency and improve leadership across Ghana’s security agencies, ensuring they operate effectively to meet national security demands.
