Daily minimum wage increased from GHS18.15 to GHS19.97; GHS599.1 monthly effective March 1

Ghana's National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) will increase by 10% from GHS18.15 to GHS19.97 on March 1, 2025, according to the National Tripartite Committee (NTC).

For workers earning the minimum wage, this adjustment equals GHS599.10 each month if calculated by 30 days.

In compliance with Section 113 (1) (a) of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651), the conclusion was reached after discussions concluded in Accra on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The increase was made after taking into account the current economic difficulties, the growing cost of living, the viability of businesses, and the objective of encouraging greater employment levels, the NTC stated in a joint communiqué.

“All establishments, institutions, or organisations whose daily minimum wages are below the new rate should adjust accordingly effective 1st March, 2025,” the communiqué stated.

The Committee also issued a warning that any organization that disregards the new salary structure will be subject to legal penalties.

The NTC also suggested that the 2025 NDMW be tax-exempt in order to lessen the financial burden on minimum wage earners.

This most recent change comes after the minimum wage was increased to GHS18.15 per day on January 1, 2024, the previous year.
