A motorcycle rider, commonly known as an Okada driver, was killed in a collision with another motorcyclist at Agona Nyansakyere in the Agona East District of the Central Region.
The accident occurred when the two speeding riders, traveling from opposite directions, crashed under poor visibility conditions due to a power outage in the area.
Former Assembly Member for the Kwesitwikrom Electoral Area, Hon. Albert Quainoo, who visited the scene, told reporters that one of the riders, identified as Mr. Yaw Collins, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Agona Swedru Municipal Government Hospital.
According to Hon. Quainoo, the other rider and a passenger sustained varying degrees of injuries and were immediately referred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment.
Expressing concern over the frequent speeding by motorcyclists in his electoral area, Hon. Quainoo urged Okada riders to exercise caution on the roads. He also called on passengers to speak up when riders exceed safe speeds to help reduce the high rate of accidents and loss of lives in the area.
