Mr. Sulemana Ussif Frinjei, an aspirant for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Chereponi District of the North East Region, has emphasized the critical role of revenue generation in achieving development objectives.

He acknowledged that revenue generation remains a significant challenge for many deprived districts within the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), including Chereponi. "It is essential to have sufficient revenue, but revenue is never enough due to the balance between income and expenditure," Mr. Frinjei stated.

To address this challenge, he underscored the importance of public sensitization, ensuring that residents understand the need for revenue generation and how these funds are utilized. "Internally Generated Funds (IGF) come directly from the people in the district, and it is crucial to ensure accountability," he added.

He also emphasized the need for competent personnel to handle revenue mobilization effectively. According to him, strengthening monitoring systems within the assembly will enhance collection efforts and ensure transparency.

Beyond revenue, Mr. Frinjei highlighted the rich cultural diversity of the Chakosi (Anufo) people in Chereponi and the potential for tourism to serve as an additional source of revenue. He advocated for recognizing and promoting the district's various clans and cultural traditions. One of the cultural activities he intends to support is Bambati, which he believes can attract tourism and boost local development. He plans to collaborate with traditional leaders, community members, and the media to establish an annual cultural calendar that showcases the district’s heritage.

On addressing conflicts and misunderstandings within the district, Mr. Frinjei stressed the importance of dialogue, effective communication, and regular engagement among traditional authorities. "Quarterly meetings among chiefs and stakeholders will foster unity and pave the way for sustainable development," he noted.

Chereponi District had the highest number of aspirants contesting for the DCE position among the six districts in the North East Region, with 19 candidates—two females and 17 males.

Mr. Frinjei assured the people of Chereponi that, if given the opportunity, he would work tirelessly to unite the district and drive meaningful development.
