Very Rev. Anthony Kwarteng, General Overseer of the Christ Power Miracle Mission Church in Dome Kwabenya, Greater Accra region, has sparked controversy by demanding a public apology from pastors who supported the now-stalled National Cathedral Project.

In an exclusive interview, Rev. Kwarteng declared that these pastors, who endorsed former President Akufo-Addo's initiative, should consider themselves cursed and accountable before God for their involvement in what he described as a deceptive scheme.

Identifying himself as an "African Prophet" with ancestral ties to biblical figures like Moses and Jacob, Rev. Kwarteng argued that the National Cathedral project was conceived with malicious intent, despite being portrayed as divinely inspired. He described the uncompleted structure as an “uncompleted shrine” and accused the pastors involved of deliberately facilitating the misuse of state funds under the guise of religious devotion.

Calling these clerics "white-collar pastors" who use "fluent and big English language" to deceive, Rev. Kwarteng questioned the personal financial contributions of former President Akufo-Addo to the project. He pointed out the president’s campaign promise to build the cathedral if elected and raised concerns about the source of funding, suggesting that state resources were improperly diverted under the pretense of fulfilling this pledge.

“If you claim to be a genuine pastor working for God and for the past eight years have failed to complete a House of God, what can stop God from cursing you?” Rev. Kwarteng said, linking the project’s stalled progress to potential divine retribution. He further emphasized the ongoing allegations surrounding the project, which are under investigation by the current government, casting doubt on whether those in charge acted sincerely in the sight of God.

In his concluding remarks, Rev. Kwarteng labeled the National Cathedral Project a "Mafia" operation designed to siphon public funds, pointing to its incomplete state as evidence of its illegitimacy.

He expressed support for President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to investigating the expenditure of funds allocated for the project.

Rev. Kwarteng’s bold statements have added another dimension to the contentious National Cathedral debate. His challenge to the pastors involved, coupled with his call for a public apology and his claims of divine retribution, is likely to intensify discussions within religious circles and the broader Ghanaian public.

I have often stated that Akufo Addo is an individual that those who follow him are never successful; you will embarrass yourself, but nobody pays attention. Does anyone know of someone who has successfully allied themselves with the former president? Many people, including Bryan Acheampong, Ernest Addison, Kusi Boateng, Chief Justice Tokornoo, Jean Mensa, Bawumia, Bossman Asare, Justin Kodua, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Nana B, etc., haven't only tarnished their image by following Akufo Addo but hav...
