The Paramount Chief of Wenchiki Traditional Area in the Chereponi District of the North East Region, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Abubakar Awuffor, has called for the need to restore lasting peace in the area.
Speaking with the Paramount Chief, he noted that without peace, nothing can be done about development; hence, peace is the twin sister of development, and they move together.
He further indicated that the National Peace Council is working tirelessly to ensure peaceful coexistence among residents in Wenchiki and its surrounding communities.
Chief Awuffor also explained that due to the chieftaincy disputes, residents cannot move freely in the area because of fear of attack by their opponents.
Noting that Chokosis are one family, one ancestor, one home, and speak the same language, Wenchiki is one of the conflict areas in the five Northern Regions of Ghana, due to chieftaincy disputes between two factions of the Chokosi tribe in the Chereponi District.
The Paramount Chief is calling on both sides to come together as one family to ensure that peace returns to the area and to call for development and well-being for their people.
Chief Awuffor reiterated his commitment to ruling his people with fairness, justice, and championing the agenda for unity.
