The President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, has set up a five-member team to collect information on suspected corruption cases as part of preparations to implement his anti-corruption agenda.
The group is tasked with gathering intelligence from the public and other sources to facilitate the rollout of Mahama’s “Operation Recover All Loot” (ORAL) when he assumes office in January 2025.
A press statement issued on December 18, by the Transition Team outlined the team’s mandate as a crucial step toward delivering on Mahama’s campaign promise to recover stolen public funds and hold perpetrators accountable.
“As a preparatory measure towards the rollout of H.E. John Dramani Mahama’s promise to recover proceeds of corruption and hold persons responsible for such corruption accountable when he assumes office, a team has been set up to receive and gather information from members of the public and other sources on suspected acts of corruption,” the statement said.
Members of the team
The team comprises prominent individuals recognized for their expertise and commitment to accountability:
1. Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa: Member of Parliament for North Tongu and the team’s chairman.
2. Mr. Daniel Domelevo: Former Auditor-General known for his strong stance against financial malfeasance.
3. COP (Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye: Retired Commissioner of Police with vast experience in law enforcement.
4. Mr. Martin Kpebu: Private legal practitioner and vocal anti-corruption advocate.
5. Mr. Raymond Archer: Investigative journalist celebrated for exposing corruption.
Mahama’s anti-corruption drive
The President-elect’s anti-corruption platform was a central pillar of his 2024 campaign. The initiative, “Operation Recover All Loot,” aims to restore public trust in government by recovering stolen funds and implementing strict accountability measures.
“Anti-corruption, with Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) as a major plank, formed a core part of H.E. John Mahama’s policy platform in the 2024 campaign, and he intends to hit the ground running on these commitments,” the statement emphasized.
