May we not become like Akufo-Addo, Bawumia gov’t – Ato Forson urges for incoming NDC administration

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has called on the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to prioritise integrity, accountability, and people-centred policies.

Speaking in Parliament on Monday, December 16, as the House reconvened, Dr. Ato Forson emphasised the need for the NDC to distinguish itself from the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“To my cherished NDC and the incoming government, may we not become like the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government. We have to be different. We must be guided by the principles of integrity and accountability,” he urged.

Dr. Ato Forson highlighted the importance of the incoming administration working for the people of Ghana and implementing policies that benefit ordinary citizens rather than serving the interests of the political elite.

“The time has come for us to do right by the people of Ghana at all times and to champion people-centred policies that benefit the voter and the ordinary Ghanaian, not the political class and their cronies,” he added.

Having been re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency, Dr. Ato Forson is set to continue his role in the 9th Parliament.

Many anticipate that he will retain his position as the Minority Leader under John Dramani Mahama's administration, with discussions also hinting at a possible ministerial appointment.
