Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and current Director-General for the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), John Boadu, has expressed strong confidence that his party will secure a decisive victory in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show, Boadu attributed his optimism to the accomplishments of the NPP government over the past eight years under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's leadership.
“We are winning the elections. We are winning because of the things we have done within 8 years,” Boadu stated, while highlighting initiatives such as the Free Senior High School policy, industrialization projects under One District, One Factory, and advancements in digitization spearheaded by the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Referencing recent election surveys, including one by Prof. Smart Sarpong of Kumasi Technical University, which shows Dr. Bawumia leading with 49.1% compared to 45.8% for NDC’s John Dramani Mahama, Boadu noted the growing confidence among Ghanaians in the NPP's ability to lead.
However, he urged NPP supporters to remain committed and turn out in large numbers to secure a first-round victory.
“We are grabbing a one-touch victory, but this will depend on our supporters coming out in their numbers. We cannot afford to be complacent,” he emphasized.
Boadu also dismissed claims of voter dissatisfaction with the NPP’s governance, reiterating that “the party’s track record speaks for itself.”
Both the NPP and the NDC are intensifying their campaigns as Ghana heads to the polls to elect a new President and Members of Parliament.
