The one-week observation for the late Akua Donkor, founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), has been scheduled for Thursday, November 28, at the Ankase-Ejuratia Funeral Grounds in the Ashanti Region.
Akua Donkor, a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics and one of the presidential candidates for the upcoming December 7 elections, passed away on Monday, October 28, at approximately 10 p.m. at a hospital in Accra.
The 72-year-old politician was one of only two female candidates contesting the elections, alongside Nana Frimpomaa of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).
She was diagnosed with abdominal complications on Saturday, October 26, and initially received treatment at a hospital in eastern Ghana. After being discharged to recover at home, her condition worsened on Monday, prompting her transfer to Ridge Hospital in Accra, where she later died.
Her passing marks a significant loss in Ghana’s political landscape, particularly as a female trailblazer in the country’s electoral history.
