Chris Arthur distributes motorbikes to Okada riders to kick-start their businesses

The NPP Parliamentary candidate for Agona West, Mr. Chris Arthur, has emphasized that addressing youth unemployment and improving the financial well-being of young people in his constituency is a top priority in his campaign to become Member of Parliament.

According to Mr. Arthur, youth unemployment is increasingly becoming a security concern, underscoring the need to support government efforts in creating job opportunities for young people. He shared these thoughts while presenting 14 motorbikes, along with driver’s licenses, to the Agona Swedru Okada Riders Association on a work-and-pay basis.

He noted that the use of motorbikes for commercial purposes is providing essential jobs, allowing young people to support themselves and their families. However, he emphasized that it should be done in a manner that avoids traffic congestion and promotes safety.

In a later interview with the media, Mr. Arthur praised the Okada Riders Association for their discipline within the municipality and acknowledged the significant role they play in the local economy.

“These Okada riders are actively supporting my bid to become the Member of Parliament for Agona West, campaigning for me and working toward retaining the parliamentary seat for the NPP. This gesture is to help them maintain sustainable jobs and become self-sufficient,” he stated.

In a related development, the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) Foundation, in collaboration with the ChrisCares Foundation and the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), recently presented start-up kits and certificates to 55 graduates who completed vocational training. The beneficiaries, skilled in areas such as hairdressing, beauty care, carpentry, welding, and electrical work, can now start or expand their own businesses.

Mr. Chris Arthur, founder of the ChrisCares Foundation, encouraged the beneficiaries to use these kits to improve their livelihoods and support their families.
