November Has Arrived, Did Bawumia Pilot The Solar-Powered Outboard Motors At Elmina In October?

Feature Article November Has Arrived, Did Bawumia Pilot The Solar-Powered Outboard Motors At Elmina In October?
TUE, 05 NOV 2024

The ModernGhana news site reported on Friday, September 27, 2024, that Ghana's vice president, Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to pilot solar-powered outboard motors at Elmina in October. I read a lot of articles on this fantastic media website; however, many people are unaware that I save significant information for my writing. In September, Bawumia pledged to help Elmina with solar-powered outboard motors, and the fishers would be trained on how to operate them.

In the United States of America, both the Democrats and Republicans are engaged in intense election campaigns, with Kamala Harris and Donald Trump both adamant about winning the presidency. Voters are finding it difficult to select the greatest party with the best ideas, even though the two opposing political parties keep their promises and have made significant contributions to the advancement of the United States of America.

Therefore, I find it incomprehensible that Ghanaians are devoting all of their energy and time to finding the best political party to govern their country after Bawumia has fallen short of all his pledges. Archbishop Duncan Williams reaffirmed that Ghanaians and Africans in general, suffer as a result of electing incompetent, illogical, and useless leaders. That man of God is right. Why would any sane Ghanaian elect a vice president who is accountable for the country's economic collapse as president?

Bawumia made countless promises while he was running for vice president, and I meticulously list some of these unmet promises in my writings. The only way I can convey to Ghanaians that the man named Bawumia is not someone that any Ghanaian, whether educated or not, should support for the country's advancement or better future, in my opinion, even though that does not imply that I hate Bawumia. Ghanaians will now find it simpler to choose Mahama over Bawumia because he has failed.

The NPP government let Ghanaians down; even though they boasted that they had men on their economic team who could improve Ghana beyond Mahama. Surprisingly, Bawumia never feels embarrassed for making numerous unfulfilled promises, instead, since he wants to be president, he keeps making more promises. Bawumia was asked, "Why can't he commit his promises now as vice president, but waiting to be president?" He responded that when he completes everything today, what will he do as president?

This response from the vice president is sufficient to expose and caution any knowledgeable Ghanaian that he is an inept and untrained politician who has not only squandered the taxpayers' money but is also accountable for the staggering national debt of GHC 763 billion. Therefore, why should Ghanaians trust Bawumia after saying that “The government will launch solar-powered outboard motors for fishers across the country in October this year?” I refused to believe him, hence; this article.

Bawumia stated that the motors would be piloted in Elmina in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem Constituency of the Central Region next month. He made this claim during his tour of the Constituency on Tuesday, September 24, and clarified that the new machines were introduced to alleviate the difficulties related to premix fuel, whereupon the fishermen would receive instruction on how to use them when he was addressing the people and chiefs. I am politely asking Bawumia if this project has been initiated.

Bawumia went on to say that "the new motors seek to improve the situation of the artisanal fisheries sector, which has been plagued for years by the exorbitant cost of premix fuel, shortage, and smuggling among other challenges." He also said that "the affordable solar-powered outboard motors would be sold to the fishermen on hire purchase and the people will no longer need premix anymore because God will give it to them every day with the sun." He lied by using God’s name for the chiefs to believe him.

"If among all his pledges, the provision of toilet projects was the easiest among them, yet he couldn't do it, how can he possibly build a harbor and an airport in Cape Coast?" If the NPP government could have constructed these magnificent projects, they wouldn’t have failed as a government. There will not be difficult obstacles to gaining votes. However, the incompetent and lazy Akufo Addo, made it apparent clear that such promises had never been made and that they were merely "landing sites."

There is no democratic government that has ever been able to receive the money that the Akufo Addo-Bawumia administration squandered and embezzled, but the NPP government never took any meaningful action with it. The nation's once-thriving economy, businesses, and investments were all devastated, along with banking institutions, non-NPP businesses, and the environment and rivers due to illegal mining. They merely came to upgrade all the horrible things they had vowed to fight against.

I will never cease wondering why Ghanaians continue to entertain a government like the NPP, after subjecting pensioners to cruelty by paying the debt that the government is responsible, for through “debt restructuring,” which eventually took many of them into their graves. More importantly, Ghanaians need to understand that because of the corrupt actions of the Akufo Addo-Bawumia’s government, many businesses have closed down, also, entrepreneurs wouldn’t invest in such a destructive government.

Since the Electoral Commission office is populated by NPP politicians and the Supreme Court judges are all NPP politicians, what can Ghanaians expect from these individuals if they have paved the way for "Agyapadie," which enriches only a few people? Since Mahama or the NDC has demonstrated their skill and competency in their accomplishments, I will implore Ghanaians to ignore Bawumia to avoid fruitless promises and vote for Mahama for the country to succeed.
