GOIL PLC has cleared its Atimpoku Service Station of fuel tampering allegations following a thorough investigation.
The investigation, which was prompted by claims circulating on social media, involved a detailed inspection of the station’s fuel pumps, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
In an earlier notice dated October 14, 2024, GOIL stated, “The attention of GOIL PLC has been drawn to an alleged fuel pump tampering at the Atimpoku GOIL Service Station circulating on social media platforms. We therefore take such allegations seriously and have launched a thorough investigation into the matter.”
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 24, GOIL announced that the investigation was carried out by a combined team from the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), and the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC).
After assessing the situation, the regulators confirmed that all fuel pumps at the station were functioning optimally and delivering the correct quantity of fuel.
“The pumps have undergone a detailed inspection. Subsequently, a full validation was carried out by a combined team from the GSA, NPA, and COPEC. The Regulators and COPEC assessed the situation and ensured that all pumps at the station were functioning and delivering to the optimal standard,” the statement reads in part.
“The timely action taken by the Regulators means that the Atimpoku Service Station is in the clear. We commend the Regulators for their speed and professionalism,” GOIL added.
