Justice Maxwell Acquah, the First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Takoradi Constituency, has expressed strong confidence that the party will retain the Takoradi seat in the upcoming general elections.

He believes that the incumbent MP, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, along with the party's 2024 candidate, will secure victory.

Speaking to the media in Takoradi, Mr. Acquah, also known as Chairman Basty, emphasized that although the NPP is poised for victory, the party will not be complacent until the election is won. "NPP’s victory in the upcoming elections in the Takoradi constituency is certain. But the NPP will not be complacent until the battle is won," he stated.

Mr. Acquah highlighted several developmental projects undertaken by the MP, including the construction of a 60-bed health facility in New Takoradi to improve healthcare services for residents. He also pointed to the ongoing Sekondi-Takoradi road expansion project, noting the progress made from the Kwame Nkrumah roundabout to the Beach Road roundabout.

Additionally, he emphasized the significance of the GNPC Energy House in Takoradi, a seven-story building equipped with modern facilities such as a 300-seat auditorium, a gymnasium, and private office spaces for lease. The facility was designed to comply with the government’s energy efficiency policies.

Addressing a recent poll by Global Info Analytics, which suggested that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate might lead in the constituency, Mr. Acquah dismissed the findings, highlighting that the NPP's development initiatives have earned them strong support, even in traditionally NDC strongholds like New Takoradi.

"The people of Takoradi have been voting for the NPP because of the good works the party is doing for them," he said. He added that the NPP’s recent health walk, which saw over 20,000 residents participate, demonstrated the party’s solid grassroots presence in the area.

Despite the confidence, Mr. Acquah stressed the need for hard work, reminding voters of the NPP’s achievements to ensure another victory in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis. "We still have to work hard and keep reminding people of the good work of the NPP to ensure the party's resounding victory," he concluded.
