
The second annual Ghana Music Awards took place over the weekend at the National Theatre in Accra.
Twenty-Nine Awards were given out to deserving musicians. The Music Maestro, Kojo Antwi swept four awards on the night.
The first was the Fontomfrom Music Ambassador Award, then the Songwriter of the Year, Artistes of the Year and Album of the Year. His song, Tom and Jerry Awaree was adjudged the most popular song of the year 2000, enjoying lots of air play, it also generated the most excitement and gross sales during the year.
Lord Kenya’s Sika Ba album won the Hip Life Album of the year, Yanoum by Obrafour – Hip Life Rap of the year, Wogbe by Nat Brew- Original Song of the Year.
Other categories were, Best Music Video Director Ivan Quarshigah, Gospel Album of the Year Cindy Thompson’s Messiah. Her song Ewaredi Kasa won Gospel Song of the Year.
