The flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, concluded a campaign tour in the eastern enclave of the Bono East region with rallies in Atebubu and Amantin.
During his two-day tour, he also addressed gatherings in Pru East, Pru West, and the Sene East and West districts.
In Atebubu, the former President spoke to an enthusiastic crowd of party supporters and traditional leaders, expressing satisfaction over the resolution of a previous disagreement between the Party and the Atebubu Traditional Council. He expressed gratitude to Ohenpong Yeboah Asuamah I, Omanhene of the Atebubu traditional area, for his role in this reconciliation.
Highlighting the achievements of the NDC in the municipality, Mahama promised to ensure a stable power supply by establishing sub-stations if he is elected in December. He also addressed the persistent water supply issues in Atebubu and its surrounding areas, pledging to deploy small town water systems to resolve the problem.
The former President also acknowledged the challenges faced by farmers due to high input costs. He promised to establish Farmer Service Centers in all districts, where farmers can access mechanized services, seeds, and chemicals on credit and at lower costs to improve agriculture and enhance farmers' livelihoods.
Additionally, Mahama mentioned a new maternity ward he personally funded at the Atebubu Government Hospital. He assured the crowd that the facility would soon be equipped and opened to benefit the municipality.
The Presidential hopeful urged voters to avoid the 'skirt and blouse' voting pattern, asking them to support both him and the NDC Parliamentary candidate, Hon. Sanja Nanja, in the December 7 general elections.
Mahama was accompanied on his tour by senior NDC officials, including Professor Joshua Alabi and Bono East regional chairman Mr Unas Owusu.
