Former General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), Janet Asana Nabla has been named as flagbearer for the People's National Party (PNP).

The People's National Party is a political party created by some executives who broke away from the People's National Convention as a result of what appeared to be unending internal misunderstandings.

In a press release on Monday, September 2, the Executive Committee of PNP said Janet Nabla will lead the party into the 2024 general election.

“The People's National Party (PNP) is pleased to announce that following a decisive meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) on Sunday, September 1, 2024, Ms. Janet Asana Nabla has been officially confirmed as the party's flagbearer for the upcoming presidential election. Dr. Edmund Ayesu has also been confirmed as her running mate,” the party said in its press release.

According to the party, this pivotal decision marks a significant step forward in the PNP's journey to provide Ghana with a leadership team committed to transformative change.

The party said Ms. Janet Asana Nabla, with her rich background in public service, health administration, and political leadership, brings an unwavering commitment to the values of gender equality, economic sovereignty, and social justice.

“Her historic role as the first female General Secretary of a political party in Ghana speaks to her trailblazing spirit and dedication to uplifting all Ghanaians,” the release added.
